VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS
Professional Artists
Children Art Foundation offers professional or freelance artists in the New York metropolitan area the opportunity to volunteer their services by joining our existing programs. Visual artists who work in all media could serve as Teaching Assistants in our partner schools by enrolling in our Visiting Artists Roster.
If interested, please contact our Executive Director and send us your Curriculum vitae and or link to your web site. Our Executive Director will screen all applicants and a subcommittee of our Board of Directors will interview selected applicants.
Teaching experience or experience working with disabled children is preferred but not essential. Usual time commitment is two-hour sessions once a week during school hours. A minimum commitment of four sessions is expected.
MFA Graduate Students
Children Art Foundation offers Masters in Fine Arts graduate students who are looking to do independent work in the community with the opportunity to volunteer services by working with our partner schools tutoring children to help them develop individual artwork and/or designing a collective work.

A minimum work commitment of one semester is required.
Art Therapy Graduate Students
Children Art Foundation offers Master level students pursuing a degree in Art Therapy who are looking to do field work and gain practical experience with the opportunity to volunteer services by working with our partner schools teaching children with special needs to develop skills via conventional art therapy modalities. You would be working collaboratively either with professional artists volunteers or with the schools’ art therapists.

A minimum work commitment of one semester is required.
Graduate Students in Nonprofit Management
Children Art Foundation offers Master level students or Ph.D. candidates pursuing degrees in Nonprofit Management with the opportunity to do field work and gain practical experience.
You may be able work with our organization doing independent work/internships to fulfill your PDR, Thesis or Case Study requirements.
We require a minimum commitment of one semester for our volunteer interns.
You may design and focus your independent work/study with our organization by specializing in any of the following areas:
- Fundraising and development
- Strategic planning
- Grant research and writing
- Management and organizational behavior
- Outcome measurements
- Financial management and accounting
- Human resources planning and recruitment.

Graphic Design Students
Children Art Foundation offers Undergraduate and Graduate students with an interest in Graphic Design the opportunity to volunteer to work in specific design projects.
You may design and focus your independent work/study with our organization by specializing in any of the following areas:
- Web Design and development
- Design of Annual Report publication
- Design of promotional and marketing materials
- Design of postcards, t-shirts, flyers
- Newsletter design
- Event planning promotional materials
We require a minimum commitment of one semester for our volunteer interns.
