Children Art Foundation Forges a Collaborative Agreement with Subsomboonpittayacom School in Rural Thailand.
By Tanapol Pachoei – Executive Director
We are pleased to announce that CAF will begin educational activities to support the art education curriculum of Subsomboonpittayacom School, a primary school with enrollment of 375 students in grades K-9.
Subsomboonpittayacom School is located in a remote area of North Central Thailand, in the Wangprajob District in Muang Tak, in the outskirts of the city of Tak, one hundred and fifty kilometers from the Thailand-Burma border. Most of the children who attend this school live in the surrounding rice fields and farmland and are of low socioeconomic status. Many have to travel long distances (walking/cycling) in unpaved roads in order to attend school.
The Executive Director and President of the Board of CAF visited the school in June, 2008. Below you will find a pictorial account of the visit. We were escorted by Ms. Phatarawan Yongchai , a member of CAF’s International Board of Advisors, who kindly arranged for us to meet with the school’s headmaster, Mr. Mongkol Maeteedham. We spent most of the time with Third Grade students, in their classroom, observing and participating in their educational activities. We had the opportunity to address the entire school population, where we were formally introduced, before the students paid salute to the Thai flag and respect to the King of Thailand at the end of the school day.
