By Tanapol Pachoei – Executive Director

Tak, Thailand (Jan 30, 2009) - Mr. Mongkol Maeteedham, Subsomboonpittayacom School's Headmaster, welcomed Children Art Foundation’s second visit to the school and received a donation of art supplies worth THB 5,000 plus a check for THB 10,000 to support the school’s art-curricula for the academic year of 2009.

CAF’s visiting team included, from New York, Mr. Tanapol Pachoei, CAF’s Executive Director, and Dr. César Alfonso, CAF’s President of the Board of Directors, and from Bangkok, Mr. Teerasan Charoenrung and Mr. Hussapong Chaipanithiphan, prominent members of the CAF’s International Advisory Board. Mr Charoenrung is a graphic and web designer and Mr. Chaipanithiphan is the Managing Director of a textile dyeing company.

The first school visit in June 2008 resulted in establishing a collaborative agreement between the school and CAF.  At the time, CAF appointed Patharawan Yongchai to its International Advisory Board.  Ms Yongcchai is an experienced educator in the province of Tak, Thailand, who currently works as Subsomboonpittayacom’s Third Grade Teacher for all subjects. Ms Yongchai, under the guidance of CAF’s Board, elaborated the integration of arts education into the school’s existing curriculum.  In addition, CAF agreed to provide yearly funding and art supplies to execute the art lessons plan.

During this visit, a welcoming ceremony was held at the school’s canteen in the bright Friday morning of January 30, 2009.  Highlights of the ceremony included two student Northeastern Thai classical dance performances, speeches by several teachers and CAF Board members, and a luncheon with teachers and students. Mr. Maeteedham graciously received a THB 10,000 grant from Dr. Alfonso, the first in a series of planned contributions to the school.

In the afternoon hours, CAF’s team conducted an art workshop with third grade students in Ms. Patharawan Yongchai’s classroom. You can view additional photos of these activities by visiting: www.childrenartfoundation.org/subsomboon_jan09.html
