Anna Kuyumcuoglu

Art Therapy Volunteer Teaching Assistant [2009]

Heilbrunn Guild School, The Jewish Guild for the Blind (New York)

Anna completed her undergraduate degree in English Literature and Studio Art from the City University of New York. She completed her Masters in Art Therapy from Pratt Institute in New York with her thesis on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder on first generation genocide survivors.

Anna has an exceptional talent that enables her to connect with children and understand them from a deeper place within themselves. She uses her knowledge of storytelling and art therapy to make a connection to the child and ensure a safe space where the child can evolve and heal. Her dedication has made children feel safe around her and has helped children in our program improve their creative skills.

Anna’s own multicultural background of Armenian and Greek heritage has made her interested in other cultures. In her free time, she loves to travel to other countries and to dedicate her spare time to volunteering with local organizations as part of her trip. In addition, she is preparing to travel to India. There she will work with children with HIV at an orphanage in Chennai (previously known as Madras). In the future she hopes to work with children.
